    Hey all,

If my mini Dahlia were going to come back this year, would I see some sign of life by now?

All that is there are a some dried up dead wood poking through the surface.

    Cheers

Morning. I'm not familiar with mini dahlias, but my normal ones are still in a cold greenhouse in pots and I've just started a bit of gentle watering to revive them. So it is probably a bit early for yours to appear if outside. Also keep your eyes open for slugs, when I've left dahlias in the ground overwinter the slugs have really enjoyed the new shoots.

No. I think the earliest you'd see anything would be April unless you are keeping them in a heated greenhouse. My dahlias planted in the ground often don't restart until late June.
I'm afraid I've found the mini ones are the least likely to survive the winter. You could carefully dig one up and see if there's any sign of a healthy tuber underneath, then pot it and keep it in a greenhouse?

No greenhouse for me, not enough space even if I wanted one.

I'll give them a chance to come back before digging them up, I bought them april last year and they flowered right through to early December.

Plenty of time yet, before they show. I've left mine in the ground during the winter in the past, and they haven't shown until May. They aren't hardy as such, so it's always taking a bit of a chance leaving them in the ground.
