Homebase are selling off their miniature Christmas trees (£16.99 ---> £3 :dancy: )

The "advice" from the young lady serving us, was to simply read the label on the plant :wallbanging: Well, I'd already *done* that and it was generic "houseplant" advice. But, this clearly isn't a houseplant. My intention is to plant it in the garden. So, she then went on to buzz a colleague who simply said not to plant them out now because they are still young.

So, I'm still none the wiser on which type of evergreen it actually is. I would like to plant them out at some point. Any help, Ladies and Gentlemen?

Is there such a thing as a miniature christmas tree? Give it ten to twenty years in the ground and I think not.

Mum I don't suppose these were grown undercover, so I don't consider them a houseplant. Although I would hold fire planting them out now as we're heading into a cold spell, I don't see any reason why they shouldn't go outside in a few weeks. If possible though I would be inclined to keep them in a cool place. :)

      Hi Mum

      Good buy
looks like a Abies type of conifer , have you a greenhouse to keep them in till the spring as they have been inside a while they may be a tad tender to leave out side 24 7 especialy if the weather turns nasty , but better outside then being kept in the house they wont survive long

No greenhouse, Spruce but I do have a laundry room which they could be housed in temporarily.

Sheal, the label for "houseplant" I think was based on the fact they were meant as table decorations (and very pretty they would look too!). Now they are merely a reduced bargain waiting for a gardener to pounce - and I did! :heehee: )

They would look nice in 2 of those cut out metal planters that I've seen you all getting @ £5 each?

They would, Jenny. But I think they are a little bit small for that (at the moment) :)

Mum, I've moved your thread to the Identification area, just to see if we can get more people having a go at ID'ing your new baby trees:)
