    Hi All,

I planted a tuber of Mirabilis in the summer.
Threw the packaging out, and can't remember if it is hardy or not?
Do I need to dig it out and replant next spring?

    Thanks
    Sirius

as far as i can see in the gardens in my area (which has a similar climate to yours) the plants have long lasting flowers and withstand the winter frost quite well.

They drop babbies all over the ground below them - large, black seeds that will store well and produce new plants next year. They are late arrivals though.Late July or early August so they need space to see the light otherwise they will not give a worthwhile performance.

    Mirabilis jalapa??
They are not usually hardy, so lift and dry off if you want to keep it.
As Jenny says they do seed well, although I would collect some seed a sow in pots around March.
