Site was down last night with banner message "Hi Everyone we are aware that Gardeners Corner is off line for the moment.. Please bear with us and we thank you for your patience.. Many thanks Marley Farley"

This morning (the banner message still there, but site seems to be functioning normally?) there are lots of threads missing

Spruce's Honebees is a thread that I am following. I know that I have not had time to read it recently, and contains unread messages, but it is not in my "Unread Watched" list.

Checked back on "Recent Posts" and it is there:

    http://gardenerscorner.co.uk/forum/threads/spruces-honey-bees.42670/unread

showing marker for a Followed Thread, and highlighted to show it has unread messages - yet not in my Unread Watched list.

Perhaps the restore in ongoing? (although in my opinion that seems risky to be doing that whilst the site is open to folk to view and reply etc.)

Zigs said, on another thread, that the fix to the problem is still ongoing.

It a bit of a concern. I've spent a long time, just recently, running a couple of holiday threads (that I was asked, by members, to do) but don't really want to waste time continuing them if there's a danger of them being lost.

    Can admin advise, please?

Indeed - provided they are in deed retrievable.

I wouldn't blame you Shiney if you decide to stop but it will be such a shame as they have been very interesting and I've enjoyed settling down with a cup of coffee and reading about your travels. I really hope your threads won't be lost and you decide to continue with them.

Have you been to Poland @shiney?

"Shiney Polish thread" would be nice :heehee:

I hope to continue (I've got a lot of the world to cover) but I'm reluctant to spend the time whilst the problems persist. I've a little more to do on the Uruguay thread then I may continue up the east coast to Brazil, French Guiana and Venezuela. Then, work my way up the west coast. Maybe followed by Asia, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii etc.

We know, please bear with us. There was a mishap, which resulted in a lot of threads going AWOL, but fortunately they were found, trying to sneak out, and they are being restored, but it will unfortunately take a while just because there are so many of them.

Being quite ignorant in the way of forums, is there a way to back up the threads so that, if the forum has a problem and loses some threads, they can be brought back from storage?

Are we allowed to know what the mishap was? :)

We don't fully understand it ourselves yet. We're still investigating it, but be assured, every single member of GC staff is on it.
