The little blighter has tunnelled underneath my NEW seat area which I have just finished, uprooting all the camomile and thyme and getting procariously close to the clematis (I would seriously not have liked him if those had been damaged!)It looks a right mess and, joking apart, I worked so hard on this little project, I am a bit upset :(
Any ideas guys - or do I just get the moleman in???
PS I know theyre sweet little creatures and I am very fond of them but why couldnt he stick to the lawn?????

Marge .....there are electronic devices that give out a high pitched noise to deter moles, I'm sorry I can't rememberer if you have domestic pets or not .. if so they might be affected too !! although the presence of a cat or dog usually frightens moles off ! .... otherwise Spurge or the Castor Bean Plant are supposed to be a deterrent as well but I don't know how efficient they will be and the Castor Plant is highly poisonous and should be avoided if you have children in the vicinity, as the long bean pods draw attention....
They are lovely little things aren't they, and it's difficult to realise that these furry creatures can cause so much havoc !

    Bon Courage !!! M-L

So sorry the little critters have chosen you new seating area to destroy, Marge! :(

I had three cats and moles popping up all over the show in Bucks! Never could eradicate them ... never did see any of them either as I think they pop up at night when you're sleeping (and the cats were too indoors)! In the end we justed stomped on all the molehills to flatten them when we were selling the house so prospective buyers were unawares!

Perhaps this will help ... the latter suggestion sounds the humane method ....

We had a mole years ago in the garden and I tried something I had heard of - and it worked! I got a piece of metal tube, this was about 150cm long, left over from building the house, put it down the newest mole hill and then banged on the side with a hammer. I don't know if this really helped or if the mole had decided to move elsewhere, but at any rate he left never to return again.

Thanks very much guys - I like the idea of the Jeyes fluid trick - sounds less harmful! We have a field 100yds away- maybe I can pursuade Mr Mole to go live with the bullocks!!! ;)

I also like the idea of banging the tube - neighbours already think Im mad anyway so shouldnt be a prob

My neighbour has another idea and she swears that it works - put hair down the holes! Makes no difference if you bring your cut-off hair back from the hairdressers with you or the brushed off fur from your cat or dog.
