I am new to gardening, but since moving to my new house in June, i am amazed at the veg i have managed to grow in the greenhouse, and the flowers that are in the garden, i don't know what many of them are yet. I had just got my lawn looking nice when it was turned into what looks now like a giant crossword with mole tunnelings just beneath the surface. Any help on how to chase the little blighters away would be gratefully received.
    Thanks [IMG]

Hi Pink and welcome, I have found that putting mothballs into the runs will drive them away, moles have such a delicate sense of smell the camphor in the mothballs is too overpowering for them. David.

Sounds like a good idea David. We put pinwheels in ours and the mole moved further down the bank so not that successful. However, I found banging the hills flat with a spade very theraputic [IMG]

We thought that Hubby had gotten rid of ours, but today I found evidence that it came back and is again making a mess around our rockery.

    Trap them,

Buy four or five traps from a farm suplier. Work from the freshest hills out.

Using a bambo cane probe down around the hills until you find a run, when you get one probe along to find the direction. Using a sharp trowel break into the run and stick your fingers in to make surte its not a T junction. widen your hole to take the trap then cover it with turf. The important thing is to block out any light without impeding the trap. flatten all mole hills

Check traps every three days or so, i tend to leave them down a week. Any problem give me a pm and I will help if I can.

We have a cat who was a great moler but she won't go into the garden now we have the dogs(who dig up the mole runs). I'm thinking of shooting myself and letting the moles get on with it. [IMG] [IMG]
