Years of neglect have left this plant looking like this. The RHS book on houseplants says to prune it hard. So I repotted it, removing the hard packed soil around its roots and did this.

It now lives in the conservatory rather than in son's north facing bedroom.

I hope I did the right thing.

Can see why you're bothered - but just think what roses look like when you've pruned them hard back, and you know how good they look afterwards!! ;) You could always cross your fingers too!!

Wow that was a brave move! I've got three Money Trees that are outgrowing their space in the conservatory so am going to give them a trim. I'd never thought of doing this before, but have recently read that it's OK to do it.

Anyone know if it's OK to put them outside now that it's warming up a bit?

So how's it doing now Rich? Has it forgiven you yet for being so brutal?! :D

Progress is slow, but new branches started appearing almost immediately. Looks like it was a good move. I'll post a picture when it looks like it has totally recovered.

Hi Sagecat. You should have no problem putting out your Money Plant now.
I put mine outside this time of the year and just water them when needed.
I have even been known to dig a hole and put them into the flower border, where they thrive.
It is just a case of remembering to get them back inside and potted up before the first frost
