Have you thought of taking cutting from it? That way you still have a/some money plants for yourself before you banish it from the house completely. If you have no luck on here then try offering it on freecycle of selling it locally on ebay.

That looks like the smaller leafed variety if it is that old but I notice though that it is in a very tiny pot.

Mine must be coming up to 30 years old and is a cutting from my Sis (Kedi-Gato from Germany). Mine now lives outside and is blooming at the moment (pic in What's blooming in January ...).

I certainly agree with sweetpeas to take a cutting ... they root very easily ... and just start one again. Never get rid of a good luck plant. and certainly not a money one .... s00k

Cut it back with a sharp knife to a manageable size and root the cuttings. Chances are the main plant will come back ok and if needs be you can reapeat this in 12 months time.

I have two young variegated ones (from Marley's cuttings). I have rooted several from leaf cuttings but sadly the new growth reverts to plain green.:(

I think cutting it back would be ok too.:)

Welcome to GC Cyberdyne. This is how I do mine.
Take a small side shoot (about 2 ins long), cutting it away where it joins the main stem and remove the two lowest leaves if there is less than an inch of stem, insert in a small pot of peat/sand mix. Lightly water in and only water again when mix appears dry. They should root in two to three weeks.

Thanks very much. The last time I did this succesfully I placed them with the base of their stems in a glass of water and they rooted fine, after which I transferred them to soil. I was under the impression that was 'the way' it was done but maybe I was just lucky! :) I'll pop some in some peat now.

Many thanks for the welcome too.
