Looks like we have something else to worry about after Covid. Monkeypox has now been reported in several European countries as well as the US, Canada and Australia. What is worrying is the UK government has bought stocks of Smallpox vaccine as Smallpox is very close to Monkeypox. So someone is obviously concerned. Perhaps the "oldies" who have had Smallpox vaccinations will be protected.
It seems to be people who have same sex partners from what this says Monkeypox cases in UK more than double to 20 - as WHO says summer festivals could accelerate spread of disease
A notable proportion of early cases detected have been in gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men - however, officials are saying it is not a sexually transmitted disease but that the virus is spread by prolonged skin-to-skin contact.
