Pulled this out the garden this morning.
Question is: Why so many roots?
I had a fight on my hands getting it out the ground!
The other one I pulled was perfect with only one root but a lot smaller.
Am I doing something wrong? My little veg patch is raised and is almost all peat based with home made compost. Not alot of good honest dirt.

Do you think the soil was a little on the lumpy side?
Maybe some stones were in the soil?
Or could it have been sown too close to the other parsnips?:cnfs:

Our Master veg grower down on our site grows parsnips as big as clubs but I always think bigger is not always better it's all in the taste!

By the way does it taste of fish?:hehe:Hel.xxx.

Let you know tomorrow, unless it escapes from the conservatory tonight.
I think I had better sleep with one eye open tonight!

The soil is stone free, and very organic.
The patch was raised last year with loads of bags of peat based and my own compost.
Could be that it was to close together.
I still have a few to harvest. It will be interesting to see in any more come up like it.

Robert, it could be that it was growing in a " pocket " of soil which was a little bit too rich for it.
