This is a set of Hellebore flowers taken last year.

It was created using Photoshop, but almost all Image manipulation programs have similar facilities.
    1. Take the photos
2.Save the photos and resize to (in this case) 250 pixels wide
    3. Open the first picture and change the Canvas size to (in this case)3 times the width of the picture and 6 times the height.
    4. Save this picture under a new name.
    5. Open picture number 2. Select All. Copy.
    6. Return to Pic1. Paste. This will put Pic2 somewhere in Pic1. Using the Move Image tool, position this pic where you want it.
    7. When satisfied use the Merge layers facility to join these two pictures.
    8. Save the new image (just in case under a new name).
    9. Keep going until you have completed the montage.
    10. Tidy up the edges using Crop and final save.

Hope this is clear, if not shout and I will see if I can help further.

Love this picture Palustris - the colours of the hellebores are so delicate. What a lovely collection.
I've invested in a new piece of software which makes a random collection of pictures into a collage. It's called lumapix and saves a tremendous amount of work for novice photoshop users like me. I'll post up a collage later when I'm on my pc (laptop at the moment).

Hi Palustris, what a fantastic collection of Hellebores, I'm very envious. I have a few in my garden but not as pretty as your, do they come up true every year?

Sue, I will tell you in a few weeks time, but if they do not I shall be going back to various nurseries and screaming!

Wonderful pictures, and thanks for detailed instructions on 'how to' create a montage. I must admit I haven't quite got to grips with Photoshop. I can see I should do so :D

Hi Palustris, beautiful picture, nice variety of colours. I would like to buy some hellebores, have you any recommendations for suppliers?

Hi Liz, depends on where you live. Ashwoods near Wolverhmpton are on TV frequently, lovely stuff but very pricey. Farmyard Nurseries near Lampeter in Central Wales, beautiful things, a lot cheaper. Bridgemere Garden Centre near Nantwich in Cheshire have a goodly selection usually. I have also seen a good selection at a nursery in southern England, but cannot find the magazine (think it was the RHS one). Not sure of anywhere else, maybe other people?
Google Helleborus x hybridus and you may find a local place listed, there are plenty of entries.
