In essence it's a picture that in conventional term is very over exposed. We've very little in flower at present so I more or less had to go for a daff! I knew the general effect I wanted to try for so I looked for one that was very pale.

The camera was set to full manual control. ISO set to 100 to reduce 'grain' N.B. I've used the term 'ASA' not 'ISO' in the pic below, that's because (a) - I'm stupid and (b) it was ASA years ago when I was less stupid than I am now. I set the aperture to f16 to get decent depth of field and set the white balance to 'shade' to get a little bit of warmth in the colour.
I set the daff in a clamp just inside our front door as it was windy outside and any movement would have blurred the photo. I then took a series of photos with a pale greyish sky as background and changed the shutter speed for each pic.
Because I was working at a fairly slow shutter speed I had the camera on a tripod this prevented any camera shake and also helped me focus manually.
The over exposure 'blows out' detail as you'll see in the image on the right below and there is no detail in the sky in either photo. I had about a dozen shots with varying degrees of 'blow out' and just selected the one I felt worked best.

Looks Great Dave. Thanks for the explanation. I'll have to have a go at that myself one day.
I'm just getting used to the Manual Button myself at the moment. Still a little nervous about using it though. lol.

Then of course there's also the DIN scale of measurement which I seem to recollect figured on film cannisters along with the ASA rating.
(ASA and ISO scales have the same values).

Thanks Rosa, glad you like the Pics!
Snappers - get experimenting with manual control, it opens up a whole new range of creative control. And, unlike film, your duff shots (and I take dozens of duff shots) don't cost anything:yho:
