Monty Don

It was on the news earlier that Monty Don has had a small stroke and has stepped down as main presenter on gardeners world. lets hope he has a speedy recovery and he's back on our screen soon.

 

according to the web it was a mini stroke and the diagnosis is good. heres hoping

Monty,
the presentation of gardeners world would not be the same without his wonderful enthusiasm for gardening. His simplistic approach encouraged millions to take up the hobby. Take a well earned rest my good friend and get well soon.

Although I'm not a huge fan of Monty I do wish him a speedy recovery I wouldn't wish any illness on anyone.
Maybe spending sometime in his own private gardens will aid him to get better and also give him the privacy away from the public glare he most surly needs along with his family.Hel.xxx.

 

I've watched Gardeners World religiously over the years and had noticed that the format had changed recently, with a lot less focus on Monty this year. I wonder who is going to front it now? Carol Klein would be a good choice as I enjoy her enthusiasm.

So far as the front guy for Gardener's World is concerned .... how about me?
Witty, calm, sophisticated, good looking (in a rugged sort of way )knowledgeable (up to a point),and above all modest in the extreme :D

 

Just spoke to my Mum and she mentioned that he's ill. It's sad news and I hope he's better soon too. I liked his focus on wildlife, organic gardening and veg growing and, as a very novice gardener, I certainly got lots of information, ideas and inspiration from him. I'll miss him on the show very much.

I thought that he'd not been around so much because of other tv work (like the around the world in 80 gardens series) rather than ill-health - but I know that he suffered from SAD but was quite adept at putting a brave face on it (as Marley Farley's comment shows).

I agree that Carol Klein would be great but she seems to have been working from her own garden and one local to her that some people are starting off so it doesn't seem likely (she mentioned having arthritis on the interactive coverage from Chelsea too....).

Whis4ey, seems like you're the only one left - will you be basing the program at your japanese gardens? Now that would indeed be very cool...
