I braved minus 10C early this morning to witness the total eclipse.

Photography was difficult because the moon was so low down on the horizon but I managed to capture a few before it vanised in total mode below the roof line.

First picture to establish location. You can just make out the reddish colour developing.

Extreme zoom on this one. Almost at total

Final picture before dropping below the horizon

    Nice one Robert,

Total cloud cover here. There were only 8 earthquakes so far today, less than normal.

    Shame you missed it...
The last time a total lunar eclipse coincided with the full moon of the winter solstice was in 1638 and it is not expected to recur until 2094.
    Can you wait that long??

Excellent Robert, makes up for us southerners not being able to see anything thanks to the thick cloud cover this morning. I went to the top of our office block to see if it was visible, had to laugh because a colleague insisted that he witnessed the start of the eclipse last night, he said everything was much brighter and had an orange glow as he came out of the pub :hehe:

Thanks for comments all. Makes it worthwhile getting up early and braving Minus (-10C) for a few pictures.
