We have hedges and hedges of laurel (the type that throws white flowers occasionally!)and just lately some have developed large red spots, the leaves turn yellow and fall off, the problem seems to be spreading and i'm getting seriously worried! As we are in southwest france, the bugs here may well be different to the UK, but maybe someone recognises the symptoms? We also have photynia red robin with dark red spots, happens every year, leaves fall off but come back, not so the laurel! Any connection, does anyone think?

Interested to hear you had large red spot problems though unfortunately can't help. I have started getting them on my phormiums and wanted advice. I cut the leaves off and burn them but new ones arrive even though the plants look otherwise healthy. Wonder if it is the same problem?
