In late May I sowed 3 seeds /pot, 6 pots in total. 2 grew alarmingly well, reaching half a meter in just 2 weeks. The rest germinated with the same speed, grew a bit and then turned albinos and stopped growing. The result at the moment, 2 weeks after repotting:

1 potful is 2m tall with saucer- size green leaves, 1 potful is 1.5m tall, small albino leaves (and 4 green ones) but growing well, 4 potfuls of albino plants that haven't grown at all after reaching 15cm, however they are not dead nor dying.

Why? The plants have been growing together and while the potful number one is gaining 5 cm per day the sisters are to be binned.

Also, why do they grow albino leaves? The pot number 2 is growing well but only the baby leaves plus some branched ones are green, the new healthy growth is white.

This has happened every year, I'm puzzled.

Sorry about the metric units, I'm a Finn [IMG]

Hi Selleri I have grown morning glory for the first time this year Crimson Rambler and Heavenly Blue neither have had albino leaves, all of mine were sown one seed in each pot could it be over crowding that has caused your white leaves?Hel.xxx.

    Hi again, the next problem:
Now the strong potful is really getting out of hands, growing strong branches everywhere outside the 2m x 2m wiring I provided. But, no flowers. Grrr... I start to think my plants must be a very special variety, I think I'll call them "Monday Morning Glories". [IMG]

Experienced morninglorierists, all tips are welcome. What do you do with yours?

    Hello Selleri ...

All I can say it is a 'weed' here ... the Heavenly Blue ....

Perhaps it has too much water there as here it lives in the driest conditions you could NEVER imagine and in the poorest of soils ... just a thought ...

Mine are flowering but I must confess the ones over at the allotment are doing far better than the ones in our home gardens but then again over at the plots they get much more sun and of course did have a fair bit of feeding from Bob.Hel.xxx.

I find that Morning Glory tends to come quite late in the season, so I expect they will be fine - just "not quite yet" :(

Yep, can confirm this. I saw them growing EVERYWHERE in Spain, through other bushes, over trees, walls and any available space. The flowers are huge, much bigger than ones here.

Mine haven't started blooming, but buds are forming.

I seem to remember having the same problem years ago with morning glory.

Some types are more tender than others and very susceptible to changes in temperature.

Its just a thought and might be wrong, but the really tender types need hardening off well before being put outside, a sudden change, especially in night temperatures might have caused the problem.

And yes I agree, has as already been said, the flowers come fairly late, next month should be good.
