Morning Glory

I sowed some Morning Glory Saturday, 1/3 have now germinated.
I am amazed (I soaked them as instructed on the packet, and when I sowed them, some seemed to have already burst from the seed case, and I chose those ahead of the others).
Anyway, it says on the packet keep at 20-25C until after germination. OK, now what? Is it safe to keep them in a frost-free greenhouse, or should I put them in my unheated propagator in the greenhouse?

BTW - are you a Michael Moorcock fan??

 

I'd say a bit warmer for now Jerry, to move them straight to a frost free greenhouse is a bit much. A unheated propagator will be as cold as the greenhouse at night.
Think I would try them on the window sill for a week or so and hope for warmer weather.

I'm no expert, but all I can say is that I started MG on the 14th Jan. about 90% germination and one was in flower this morning!

I reckon that at this rate, if they keep going, that they will have to be kept in the g/h because they will be too large/awkward to move.
So I am going to start another lot off later for planting outside.

I am maintaining a minimum temp. of 45 deg.
Don't know if they could be hardened off early enough to stand the frosts, never tried!

Forgot to mention that it was taken in the afternoon, so its looking a bit tired!

 

Great to have a bit of colour in the greenhouse unexpectedly like that, eh, DAG?

 

I have got some morning glory growing on the window ledges in the house they are allready a foot tall..i dont get my greenhouse till next week and if it doesnt warm up outside they will have to remain indoors even longer..wish i hadnt planted them so early now..When is spring going to arrive? the clocks change next week and its normally warmer by now...I have a lovely show of chives and chickweed they are growing well outside in the cold..we have just had a snow shower which makes me despair..and its freezing..

I think it's actually a baby triffid.... look at that snaky top, just waiting to grab you as you enter... :eek:

Weather here in Essex this morning, on the way to the G/H; cold, damp, miserable, overcast.
Went into the g/h and the next MG was smiling at me:



Got the size right this time!
So took this pic at 8.30 this morning; don't that put a smile on your face!!!
