F77A3B67-888D-4457-9ED6-F43AC131DE6A.jpeg Our back garden is east facing and although parts of the garden get sun virtually all day, the hedge row that runs the length of the property is shaded for most.

What can I plant here that will flourish given that it only gets sun from the very early hours until about 9am!

Last year Cosmos worked well as I started it indoors and waited until the plants were huge! You can see cosmos in the pic!

Would my salvia plus plants work well once established in a sunny area before being transported there?

    Hi,

So many plants you can use for that shady aspect...

Fuchsias, bush and tall growing types, Hostas, Heucheras, Ferns, Begonia Semps etc etc.
Sure others will add to that list.

Not sure about the idea of moving flowering sun lovers into a shady area, perhaps will work for a few weeks, then probably look poor ..?

Salvias would generally sulk there Kriss.....However, the tall S. Uliginosa would do quite well if you gave it a drink now and then:)
Busy Lizzie would do well there. Ferns too, ideal I think. Some grasses too would enjoy it there esp hackonechoa. Plain green forms, variegated and yellow too....very classy from spring to autumn:) acorus Ogon is a grasslike evergreen and would grow there as would the yellow sedge Bowles Golden Sedge. Check out a beautiful grass called Bowles Golden Grass; lovely yellow stems, leaves and flowers that look esp good in spring:)
Liriopes.....evergreen with short purple flowers in autumn.....epimediums and brunneras too will grow there
However, consider a thalictrum there Kriss......very tall, delicate, tactile plants with pink or white flowers atop 6’ stems.:)
