Well,we eventually managed an overseas holiday using our brand new first issue Passports:hehe:
First stop off was to Thiepval in the Somme, to a Memorial to the73,000 men KIA & missing..

I was proud to discover that a photo of my G-G Uncle lost there was reproduced and on display in the new visitors Centre...

it was quite an emotional find!
Morvan in Burgundy was the final destination involving a twelve hour journey:doh:...and to my Bro's house
    [IMG]
It was a working holiday and my first project was to install a register plate in the chimney....

    Spot the joins??
Then a week constructing a stud wall and two more doors to create a shower room and corridor..The doors come pre-hung so easy really..

I spotted two blokes repairing next doors roof ,working off a typcal French roof ladder!!:cnfs: Health & Safty??not out there it appears:D
    [IMG]

It wasn't all work and we toured the entire area which was stunningly beautiful..

So typically French...the town of Lormes...and our local Cafe'

Even the night sky seemed bigger..

Elderberry?? Never seen them growing like this if they are!

And before you knew it...we were saying goodbye:(

I took dozens of pic's but I'm afraid they didn't do justice to the country...the place is vast..it is clean and a pleasure to travel through and despite what I was lead to believe, the folk I met were so polite and most welcoming.
I do hope I'll get over again soon
OH...and I bought 5 litre boxes of lovely wine for under 5 Euros:gnthb:

Lovely! I am keener than ever to go now. When you say first issue passports do you mean that is your first trip abroad? If so did you have to have an interview and was it bad? I have mine tomorrow and am passing the proverbial brick in case I mess up[knowing me I will :D]

The questions are not designed to trip you up and they have all of your profile on PC anyway...You'll be fine.:gnthb:

Thanks Pal, I will be glad when it's over. Think of me at 10am tomorrow please but it will all be worth it to get to France or Belgium.
I see you went by ferry - so glad you had a great time anyway.
