    Hi

I've got a small lawn at the back of my mid-terrace house - about 10ft x 25 ft.

Over the last 18 months moss has really taken hold - it's almost like a carpet. We've been here 6 years and its not been this bad.

Our soil is quite wet and clay like - about 3 years ago I aerated it and put down sand, but haven't done much since (aerated again with a fork in October).

What would anyone recommend to get rid of it? If I use mosskiller I'm not sure there will be anything left ! When I've used it before I've found raking out the moss also damages the grass. Is returfing the answer?

    Thanks
    Roger

Moss likes the damp and shade. So if you've both, I guess you'll always have problems.

Your best and cheapest option in the long term might be to re-turf it and then begin a programme of regular maintenance to control it, once it's got a hold it's hard to shift.
In my garden I replaced a long narrow strip along one border. This cured the problem.

If it's dry tomorrow I'll give mine it's usual "three in one" Spring treatment. As soon as my golf club green keeper treats the greens, I know it's time to do my lawn!

I use a soluble weed, feed and moss-kill, as I always manage to burn the grass if I use a granular one.
