I'd like to remove some moss from my lawn before the winter. Is to too late to weed and feed or should I just stick with scarification?

    Thanks in advance!

I put some autumn feed on mine last week before the rain.

I'm sure it contained moss killer, but not weekdkiller.

It won't do any harm though you'd possibly be better scarifying and then applying an autumn feed to encourage root growth and waiting until spring before applying weed and feed.
I applied weed and feed 4 weeks ago and it worked a treat, but much depends on the weather. Grass is still growing quite rapidly but things could easily change

I think you may be wasting your money on weed killer at this time of year as the weeds are killed off better when they are actively growing, and moss is there because there is damp / compaction, which will only get worse over the winter, so I think money spent on killing the moss would be better spent in the Spring - but if your plot is small you may want to do it anyway if the cost won't be too great.

If you have moss (particularly at the end of the season, rather than the Spring) then you need to improve drainage. My preference would be to scarify, then spike the lawn to improve draining, and if possible brush in some sharp sand - depends how much trouble / expense you want to go to. If you want a smart lawn to show off the garden as a whole then it will need some time, effort and money I'm afraid :thumb:

If you go down that route then probably worth lightly over-seeding the lawn too

And regardless of anything else, an Autumn feed will help the roots.

Thanks for the advice - looks like I'll have to wait until April now :)
