As part of my garden plan, I would like to create a small wild flower meadow area in place of a lawn that's mainly covered in moss, I didn't mow it this year and very little grew through the moss, as the moss seems shallow routed can I just dig it over, will the moss die or grow through again? or should I remove the top sod all together. I'd much prefer to dig it over. Guidance please.

Moss usually grows in lawns because of shade or bad drainage or compaction.
I think you might need to work out why its mossy as in general wild flower meadows dont like shade or water logging.

The moss will just die if you dig it in.

To sow wildflower seeds or plants have to take all the top off to get to the less fertile soil. Or dig out squares of moss/grass.
