Found him, he's a Puss Moth.

Wonder if there is such a thing as a Moth Puss.

After all, there are Goose barnacles and Barnacle Geese.

        They are very attractive moths.

It's a bit off topic Ziggy but what if you had one of these on the pole (I would love to see them here, may be one day they will cross the channel and colonise the UK as they are found in France.
A common European Praying Mantis I found in my brother's garden in Georgioupolis in Crete, this one was about 6" long..:dbgrtmb::dbgrtmb::dbgrtmb::dbgrtmb: They sometimes fly indoors!!:rolleyespink:
If you want to know what it is sitting on ask Sherlock Holmes, he'll tell you it 'A lemon tree' my dear Watson.:D sorry couldn't help that one.

I love off topic Strongy:dbgrtmb: Thats how conversations start.

He's fantastic  Is he as big as he looks ?

Found the cat chewing a catterpillar a couple of years back, must have been 100mm long by 18mm wide, very fleshy.

I assumed it was a Deaths Head Hawk moth but thinking back, don't hawk moth batterpillars have tails ? This one didn't.

I grew some lemons from pips, how many came up Holmes ? Eleven Lemontrees my dear Watson.:heehee:

        (its true:yess:)

That Mantis was a biggun, others around his house were smaller and light brown. The first time my brother saw one was on his curtains in his living room same size as the above.

I think all Hawk Moth caterpillars have tails/spines.

The Conservative paying maitenance was a ?
Ailmony Tory my Dear Watson :loll:

That's why it's on your pole. How else can it practise pole dancing?
