    Hi,

I bought a mountfield petrol mower this summer (my first petrol) and am VERY pleased with it.
I know that it's getting closer to winter and I need to pack her up before the cold kicks in.

It will be left in the shed over the winter.
Can anyone give me some advice on what I need to do so it is still in good working condition for next year.

    Cheers

I don't do much to mine over winter, just make sure its clean, then give it a good spray all over with WD40. Provided its a dry shed it will be OK. Some people recommend draining out the petrol but I've never had a problem starting mine in the spring with the dregs of last years petrol still in the tank.

I like to drain the petrol as it can attract condensation and cause problems in spring. Don't tip the mower sideways to do this though, disconnect petrol pipe or syphon.

\it's important to clean under the deck as this is where corrosion starts and while you are there check the blade

I'm much the same as John. A good clean and spray but I do empty the fuel tank out.
My Bro is a Garden machine mechanic and he fires her up in the cutting season if I have problems anyway!:)
