I have a nut feeder in my garden hanging off a conifer branch, so far i've had a chaffinch, robin, blue tit and a great tit visiting.

However this morning there was a little mouse on my feeder, i'm not really sure how i feel about that or what to do about it.

my main concern is i dont want mice in my house.

I've seen a mouse on my bird table. I don't mind and like seeing him. I call him Scouse Mouse. He'd be a bit daft if he came into the house as there are 3 cats on patrol!

We have a Siamese kitten (4 months old) but he's a scardy cat and I expect he'd run away if the mouse came in.

I don't think i could eliminate the problem as there are hop feilds over the back of us.

Is he a problem for birds or for me?

I think the wild birds are more of a danger to a mouse than a mouse would be to them!! Wild birds can carry salmonella which is why it's always important to wash your hands after filling up bird feeders and practice could hygiene by keeping feeders and bird tables clean. :)

It isn't a problem, mice will come into the house if they want to regardless of the feeder.

when filling the bird feeder next do an alternate layers of Red Pepper spice and the nuts. The mouth of the mouse will burn from the spice, the birds are not affected. Thus the solution. Works same for squirrels.
