Hi, I've just come across this site, wot a brilliant idea! Can anyone help with this problem. We are landscaping our back garden at the moment and we are replacing the fence. Alongside the old fence is a well established Honeysuckle which I would like to keep. I want to move it to another site in the garden, do you think this would be possible and if so how do I go about doing it?

    Hi Ally
Time and patience first. Cut it back to manageable proportions, don't worry it will survive it, then after it has recovered from that shock maybe a month, dig all round it chop through all major roots, to give you a manageable root ball when you come to lift it. This will cause it to form fibrous roots in the root ball. Leave for maybe another month or two, then lift in the Autumn when the sun's strength is waning and replant and then puddle it in, ie water it copiously. That's the more correct way, there are quicker cheat ways but a little more risky if you're not experienced. I f you wish to know more just Email me. Hope this is useful.

Thanks for the reply Ray. Unfortunately the new fence is coming next week!!! We may be able to leave at its current position and work around it. I'm worried about a post for the new fence being put in next to the base of the honeysuckle thus maybe causing damage to roots. Will keep you informed of the outcome.
