Hello, i have the chance of 2 lilac trees.Mr. fiz is block paving a garden and the gentleman just wants them out.
I would say the trees are 10-12 ft high.
Would they survive being re located to the allotment?
I don`t know about the root systems but Mr. fiz thinks it would be easier to chop them down first then pull out the remainder.
He says if i can find out if it`s worth trying then he`ll do his best.
Would it be pointless? It just seems cuch a waste.

It is the wrong time of year Elaine
The chances of them surviving would have to be considered slim

Hello whis4ey, thank`s, even though i`m sorry to hear that.
It did cross my mind that it was too late for them.
I asked Mr.fiz to suggest a different design so as they could be left in but no joy.
Oh dear.I shall just have to be brave and steer clear of the pickup when he starts the job.
A small consolation, there are 6 lavenders i can save and will look very nice in my garden. Please don`t tell me it`s the wrong time for them too.

The best time for moving trees, if you absolutely have to , is winter. Would advise taking cuttings from your lavenders, just incase they don't survive the upheaval. it would seem like quite a good time to move them, as they are coming into growth - but do it sooner rather than later, and try to take as much or a root ball, with plenty of earth still attached to the root as you can. Good luck!
