MOVING AN ACER

    HI

    I COULD REALLY DO WITH YOUR ADVICE I HAVE AN ACER WHICH IS 10 YEARS OLD, AND APPROX. 8 FT HIGH....

    IT'S NEEDS MORE SPACE

    CAN IT BE MOVED ?

    IS THERE ANY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OR TIME IT SHOULD BE MOVED.....

    ANY ADVICE WELCOMED.

    Dig out the largest rootball you can manage, at least (30cm) all round the trunk. Slide thick polythene sheeting under the rootball and it will move (slide easily). Dig a larger hole to replant and replant at exactly the same level as it was before. Sprinkle some fertiliser in the backfill soil. Water well for the first year, especially if its a hot summer. Do it NOW while its dormant. Dont try if the tree is in growth.
