This may seem not to be gardening related, but read on! ;)
I've just been offered a council flat in West Hampstead, which is where I used to live about 15 years ago, and I'm really thrilled.
During the past few months, I've been subjected to a lot of harassment by my landlady because of the garden, and especially because I got a compost bin which was offered free by Camden Council. Yes, you did read that correctly - she's been harassing me because I got a compost bin from the council.
She wrote me offensive memos about the garden, which is a garden in pots and containers that I built up over the years at my own expense. :(
She said she didn't like the "clutter of unsightly objects"
So....I renewed my application to be re-housed (there were other reasons, but I won't bore you with those), and today I was offered a flat with a large patio, lots of space for the "unsightly objects" AND the compost bin!!! [IMG]

It seems like the sooner you're away from that awful landlady the better, Leonora. Great news, and you can tend to your pots free of hassle! [IMG]

Thanks to everyone! The Estates Officer said it would take about a month to get it ready, as the previous tenant was an old man with (a) a drink problem (b) an incontinent dog, so it isn't very clean! [IMG] But after the contractors have cleaned it, I get a redecorating allowance! [IMG]
