Taking advice from a horticultural expert I decided this week was as good as any to relocate my manicata which needed more room.
The new site had a deep hole dug which is part lined with plastic to retain water about three feet down. Two of us moved the large root ball and a couple of hundredweight of soil on a wheelbarrow. It's been watered in and surrounded by good quality soil...covered in straw and styrene against any coming frosts.

I'll let anyone interested know in a few weeks if the move has been successful.

Ive left a small division in a plastic pot over winter outside and that was fine :) so i think yours should settle in fine :blue thumb:

All doubts gone now....a successful move and the plant well on it's way with the aid of loads of chicken manure.
