So, first day back at school in upper 6th for my two boys; Mr Mum due home same time as them. Cooler today so, I thought cook a roast, they'll all appreciate that :dbgrtmb: (Wish I hadn't, I was boiling!!!)

Anyhow, usually the two boys wash and dry up, but asked if we could use the dishwasher. Now, it is fair to say, it is not a gadget which gets much use in our house.

Mr Mum said he would do it (because he could see how overheated I was), bless!

10 minutes ago, there was a loud *BANG!* from the kitchen. I enter from the dining room, Mr Mum enters from the hallway .... :th scifD36: .... .... :dunno: Then, it hits us ... a stench of plastic!! :eeew:

So, I ask him: did you put *everything* in the dishwasher? Including all the utensils? (Yup!)

Have you put that on the highest setting? (Yup!)

I am dreading opening the dishwasher because, I suspect it was a plastic ladle type thing that has exploded within it! And I dread to think what kind of mess that will have made inside there :wallbanging:

When God was giving out common sense, I'm afraid Mr Mum was late for registration :noidea:

        Nightmare!

Did you read about the guy last week who met the Olympic team from a small African nation at the airport? There was some cock up about paying for their digs, so he took the entire team back to his mums house & put them up, bless him.

One of them filled the plastic electric kettle up & put it on the gas hob to boil:hate-shocked: Nearly burnt the house down.

Oh, he will! When he's cleaned up whatever mess will be lurking there ... he'll use that as a reason not to load the dishwasher ever again!

Zigs, I didn't read that, but, safe to say, when it happens somewhere else and *to* someone else, it is definately a :loll: moment :heehee:

Many years ago, when I was a humble office worker, the boss asked me to make tea for some of her "guests" (like I didn't have anything better to do? ). She'd also brought in some teacakes for me to toast.

Well, being a good girl, I found a tray, did everything prettily; toasted the teacakes, found a dish to put the butter on (in neatly cut cubes, I might add!), picked a couple of flowers from the garden and put them in a vase on the tray. Took this over to the main house where she was entertaining her "guests" and was met with a shock/awe "Oh how wonderful! Thank you!!" (Why the surprise? I'd only done what she'd asked me).

Not quite out of the sullen teen stage, I trudged back to the office, muttering to myself and the oddjob man, George stopped to asked if I was ok. Not having quite worked out that the word secretary begins with the word "secret", I was very indiscreet and passed on my mumbles.

His response? "You should have burned the beggars; she wouldn't have asked you again" :heehee:
