I haven't even had a chance to introduce you to Mr Red .... a stray who adopted us about a month ago. We don't know where he came from except out of the orchards but he stayed here permanently, mostly on the doormat outside the kitchen door and slept in our outdoor living room for his afternoon snooze and at night. He rarely went anywhere and Cal and Boo had no problems with him. He was very friendly and seemed to like both human and feline company.

We knew he was ill as he ate twice as much as ours and started getting thinner and thinner and was drinking a fair amount of water. We had dosed him with Advantage although he seemed clean and free of fleas. We suspected he was perhaps suffering from kidney failure as we had lost Skwij, our male white cat to this a few years ago. We planned on taking him to the vet today .... but I discovered him dead on the chair in the outdoor living room when I got up. He didn't have any toys so I put a bunch of yellow daisies in the box with him as he like to sometimes have a snooze under the daisy bush. T'other half is getting ready to bury him in the orange orchard where he came from ... so a few more tears will be shed shortly.

We didn't know him long ... but he won't be forgotten.

    RIP Mr Red k-lxx

Aww sorry to hear about Red, he looked like a smashing cat, my dad used to say that cats go away to die, maybe there's a bit of truth in that! He ended his life the way he wanted to Vicky:luv: RIP Red..

Thank you all for your sympathetic words and kindness.

Although the little fella was only here a short time, he had started following me around the garden, bless him.

We had hoped he would perk up and we were going to take him to the vet to get him injected, inspected and approved for coming to live in the house with the other two guys rather than just outside, although it's quite cushy in the outdoor living room and he was on 'his' cushion on 'his' chair when he left us.

We also believe some cats do go find that special place when they know their time is over and we were honoured he chose us ... he was a joy to have around.

Again, thank you all ... k-l

PS Just noticed that in the fiirst picture he is on the steps up to the upper deck over the outdoor living room .... we've always called it The Stairway to Heaven ... think I'll go shed a few more tears now ....

Awww, Sis, that is so sad. But like the others, I am sure he came to you as he knew that was the best place to be to get ready for his trip up to Cat Heaven. Bless him k-l

Bless you both and the Minikies too for making his last weeks so happy for him.
