Earlier this year, I was lucky to have this beautiful cross-stitch offered to me by Mrs DAG. It is 10 x 47 cm / 3.94" x 18.5".

I had a lovely surprise on Monday - a parcel came in the mail from Mr & Mrs DAG, Mrs DAG had done me a beautiful finely-worked cross-stitch of Hannah the Elephant and DAG had framed it. I can't believe how tiny the stitches are, it is amazing. It is 14 x 19 cm / 5 1/2 x 7 3/4 inches.

DAG, edited my photo of Hannah as I couldn't get a good pic of it without the light reflecting in the glass.

    :thku: to both of you.

    Hi Kedi :)

They are just beautiful aren't they? I have done some cross stitch in my time and it is time consuming to say the least.

How lovely to receive a gift that has so much meaning, I'm sure you will treasure it :luv:

Lovely gift Kedi,I wonder how many hours it has taken for Mrs Dag to complete it? I bought myself a larger cross stitch set a few years ago but didn't realise that you needed a frame to keep it taught{sp} and I hadn't really got the time or patience to sit and do it so in the end it ended up being put up in the loft.I might even have given it away by now:D One of my sisters and a sister in law love doing these sorts of things but I much prefere to be growing and not sowing:D

They are absolutely stunning, Sis. The first one looks as though it is back lit and Hannah looks as if she is painted so the stitching must be very fine indeed.

Well done Mrs DAG, beautiful work and I know my Sister will cherish them.

Thanks Kath, Kandy, Penny and Sis.

Every piece of Mrs DAG's handiwork is exquisite. You can see the patience, care and love put into it all.

 I must make a correction, DAG didn't frame it, Mrs DAG did. Sorry Mrs DAG.

Kandy, I asked how long it took Mrs DAG to do Hannah. About 3 months, working on and off.

    Thank you LMRR.

I think cross-stitch involves having a lot of patience, as you are doing the stitch twice. I tried it on a small tablecloth once, and that was the first and last time. (I did get it finished BTW :D) Too fiddley for me but I really admire anyone who can persist and end up with such a masterpiece. :ntwrth:

I find it quite relaxing but I don't get to do too much lately as my illness makes it hard to concentrate and I spend more time unpicking sometimes :lollol:

Sorry to hear that you have not been well LMRR, hope you are soon over it.

Oh, I detest having to unpick any handiwork, it is more work than the actual stitching.
