musa ice cream

    Hi guys i just got a musa ice cream from ebay.Its only 100 mm high at the moment.I dont know weather i should plant it out now or not what do you guys think i should do.Thanks for the help my friends..daz

    I wouldn't risk it beyond october in the ground ? depends if you want to experiment and take a punt if it was not too expensive. Will be fine to go out now I would think.

    Musa Ice Cream is a medium sized banana plant and looks striking as a foliage plant. It may produce blue-green fruit, which has a delicious taste. They are a silver-green colour, having thick stems that stand up to the wind very well. Will grow well in the UK if fed and watered regularly, grown in full sun (no less than 50% shade) and kept warm to produce fruit. The Musa Ice Cream banana plant can be grown outside in the warmer months and the leaves have good wind resistance, but they must be protected from the worst of the cold weather and brought in for the winter. Simply cut down the stem to the required height if the plant is too large and pot up.

    Cheers my mate i was hoping you would say that lol .Its going in.The gunera is doing really well mate hes in the ground now.I will take some pics and post them on here mate .Thanks alot banana man..daz. By the way your hide out is fantastic.One day i hope my garden will look just as good.

    Look forward to the gunnera pics, I think with the weather we have been having the gunneras are going to be rather large this year ! Can't wait till sunday, gravel finished, me horizontal on a hammock :D
