I have 2 plants in a container which have been there for 2 years - last week heaps of mushrooms have appeared at the base of the plant.
do i have to destroy the plants-or can I just dig them out and repot in fresh compost? i dont know anything about mushrooms
    thanks

I would just pull the mushrooms out of the pot and disturb the top few cm of soil, that will disrupt the mycelium from forming new mushrooms hopefully. Although if your plants havn't been repotted for two years there's probably all sorts of spores in the soil just waiting for the right conditions to grow. As long as the fruit looks OK, there's very little chance of you poisoning yourself.

What kind of mushrooms are they, they may be edible, in which case everything will be fine. Do a google yea.
