God love him; so nice to see that Henry can still derive pleasure and love from music - may he never be without a tune.

        It is endearing ...

... and it is incredibly sad!

So sad that the generation given the task of "caring" for older generations, are not educated into the cultural aspects of their generation :cry3:: pre Ipod; pre CD; pre TV!

Of course music has a strong resonance with that generation: it was all they had - in *their* day! Aside from a film or four (predominantly, musicals).

Music speaks to the soul when the ears no longer (or refuse to) hear/listen. Rhythm is innate ... and speaks volumes. That much, is not a surprise to me.

Thank you for posting. I just hope, someone of a different generation will see it, reflect upon it and then, form the realisation of the profound affect music has; not just on *that* generation (who knew nothing else) but, even on the current generation; and so on!

This kind of highlights the problem with most care homes that the residents do not have enough stimulation.

:goodpost: Shiney...It's amazing what a difference music can make to people.I once cared for a lady that had a stroke and although she hadn't lost her speech entirely she was unable to communicate very well, yet she could sing every word as clear as crystal to her favourite songs .I did try to encourage her to try and sing the words she wanted to speak but it didn't work.So we just used to sing all the time instead:)
