my border for a new gardener help

    what do i need to put down on my border before i put stones down i want to stand pots on i can cope with pots but not to garden the border the rest is all lawn, which i might have some patioed in the future, thanks for all your help.

    Hi Woodcas.
    I have just done part of my garden and i used a membrain, or thick plastic. You can usualy buy from a good DIY shop or a garden center B&Q carry it as well.

    Hi Woodcas,
    I've just put down woodchip paths, and used weed barrier underneath. This lets the water drain through it while discouraging weeds and keeping the woodchips (or stones in your case of course!) separate from the soil.
    The only thing I'd say about pots is that they tend to be higher maintenance as they'll need much more watering than plants directly in the soil would...
