I picked up some Callistemon seed from a sale at Wilko's last year for around 50p, thought I'd have a crack at them.

I sowed the seed (some of the smallest I've ever seen :hate-shocked:) in March this year and last week I pricked out a lot of the seedlings and now I have a full cell tray of 40 baby Callistemons..:hapydancsmil::dbgrtmb:

Bilbo, they germinate like cress as you have found out.:blue thumb:
Do you know which variety or did it just say 'red'?
I would nip the tops out at about 6" to promote multiple branching.

Looking at the width of the leaf, I'd say they are C Citrinus Splendens not the usual Subulatus/Linearis but they are to small to say definitely.

That's brilliant Bilbo. And all for 50p. I am surprised that they had seeds of something so exotic. I had always assumed that the very cheap seeds were of the very common plants - so I must pay more attention in future. :rolleyespink:

Hi Peter, I've noticed one or two more exotic seeds creeping in; Datura and the like..

I actually got these from a larger Wilko's store (ours is quite small) that stocks more, they were part of a collection of seeds called "World Botanics" from Johnson seeds..:blue thumb:
