I've been busy with my cakes a lot lately but I have been dropping in from time to time catching up on everyone's gardens. Thought I would show you my latest flower spray it was for a Ruby wedding cake. They are all made of sugar paste and took me ages.[IMG]

    Hello dalbuie.

It was my Ruby anniversary on 29 April. Carnations are my favourite flowers because of their heavenly spicy scent .... t'other half has agreed with me .... your creation is absolutely stunning and almost breathtaking in its simplicity. I would have been proud to have them as I hope the recipients were.

I can only applaud you for your talent ... I am well impressed. xx

Thanks for the lovely comments, they were fiddly but I got there in the end and the lady was very pleased with it.

bobj, I usually spread a thin layer of buttercream all over the cake first and leave to set for about 15mins before covering again with whatever icing I'm using. Hope this helps your wife.
