HI All! I bought some smallish clematis a few weeks ago and have put them into slightly bigger pots until they go in their final position but i noticed the other day that one of them although its growing ok has the beginnings of some kind of whiteness on a lot of the leaves. If i rub quite hard the white seems to come off. I am guessing that its some form of mould?? I sprayed it yesterday with a fungicide in the hope it may help. Can anyone advise me on why plants get this and what i can do to prevent it? I thought it mainly happenned when it was really wet which hasnt been the case recently. also is it likely to spread to other plants/clematis? thanks

Sounds like mildew. THis is worst when the plants are dry at the roots, as they may have been in the Garden centre. A fungicide should clear the problem.
