    Hi,
Having bought my first honeysuckle plant in the Spring in the year it has flourished in its London abode, climbing from 3ft to 13ft high in just a few months.

Until last month it's always looked really healthy however the leaves now seem to be dying in some parts... some have mottled spots, some have black spots, some are going yellow, some have holes in them and some new leaves are dying at the tip (see attachments). Whilst generally the leaves furthest from the roots are currently unaffected, leaves towards the base of the plant look particularly unhealthy.

Is this meant to happen at this time of the year or do you think it has some kind of disease? If it's the latter, does anyone know how I can treat it?

    Thanks for your help!

is the honeysuckle planted in semi-shade?
(they prefer semi-shade and not full sun)

how often do you water? ... from what I have read, they don't like too much water

looks normal to me , its late in the season so its slowing down and will start loosing it leaves for Autunm , sorry dim but a lot of the problems with this plant in particular is its too dry and needs regular watering plus its only been planted this year , I woudnt worry your plant is doing what it should be

Give it a good water and pat yourself on the back it will look even better next year when the roots realy get going

ps the holes will be slugs and snails

well, I learn something new everyday ... I've never planted honeysuckle as I don't really like them .... I prefer star jasmine, but it needs full sun

I aways thought most honeysuckle were evergreen? ... and never knew that slugs/snails can climb 13ft high?

There are some evergreen Lonicera but yes, this one's a deciduous variety so it'll look yellowy, get mottled and not look its best from now on - but it's nothing to worry about because it'll come back as good as new next spring. They're as tough as old boots.
It's needed more water than it's probably got because it's its first year in the ground and it's still establishing its roots, water it well next year too and it'll settle in nicely.

The evergreen type have slightly different shaped leaves, i have one here called Copper Beauty and as ther name suggests the autumn and spring foliage is a coppery colour.

As for slugs climbing, Dim, they're winning contenders for the Olympics with their abilities
