    I saw a hedgehog :hapfeet:

    I SAW a hedgehog! :hapydancsmil:

    I saw a HEDGEHOG!!!! :wub2:

Actually, it's good news and bad news

Ozzy just went crazy (indoors) like he does when we have crows in the garden (remember last year they nibbled his bone on the lawn? He has a lasting - trauma - memory of that :heehee: ). So, I let him out ... followed a moment later to see ... A HEDGEHOG!!!!!

Ozzy didn't like the feel of it (numpty! I wonder why!!) but, I gave him a "LEAVE!" command - which he did - turned on the pathlight and there was a hedgehog!

So, sent Oz to "bed", went to grab my gardening gloves to move it to a secure place ... but, he escaped on his own. So a mixture of :phew: (he's safe) and :cry3: (I didn't have my camera!).

Four years I've been here and that is the first I've known of. And my fencing is pretty robust because of the chooks, Ozzy and (formerly) the ducks.

So, a mixture of: thrilled that one is here ( :yahoo: ) but awareness now about Ozzy going out at night to relieve himself. Had a stern word in his ear that Hedgepigs are a no-no :nonofinger:

Poor beggar must have been terrified seeing an Oz after him :hate-shocked:

Are they like mice? You know, you see one so there must be a group somewhere? :dunno:

So you saw a HEDGEHOG "M" that's wonderful! :dbgrtmb:

I think it's unlikely there'll be a group close by. From experience I've found each individual hedgehog takes it's own and the same route through my garden every night and at pretty much the same time with maybe half an hour leeway either side of that time. :)

Great to know there are lots of Hedgehogs about. I support a local hedgehog rescue/sanctuary by selling 1000s of Snowdrops. You may probably know already but if you see Hegdehogs during the day they are very very likely to be in trouble for whatever reason and you are best to try get them to a rescue centre if you have 1.
I seldom have Hedgehogs here:cry3:, according to the person running the sanctuary the likely reason is there will be badgers around and the 2 don't mix evidently.

Flipping 'eck, Zigs - you didn't have to run it over first to take the photo (looks flat as a pancake!) *pops some worms and slugs in an envelope as emergency rations for the 'pig*

He flattened himself out when I stroked him :)

Careful with that M, they have a tendency to bite when alarmed (believe me I know)
Apart from that welcome him/her with open arms, oh, and expect a little "poo" to be left for you occasionally :thud:

                        Thank lww

Well, between the chook poop, Ozzy poop :doggieshmooze: and the feral cat (Colin) poop, I'm quite sure a dollop of hoggy poop will pretty much go unnoticed - or rather unconcerned :heehee:

Glad you told me they bite! :yikes:
