my first sunflower...

    I have one that is allready 9 foot high without a head yet so i have tied it to the washing post in case we get a storm tonight..the above sunflower is my first to open its only about 6 foot..

    here it is still growing..being strangled by russian vine...

    I have, amongst other things, got some sunflowers groiwng for the first time and am very please with the results but have lost a few to the heat.
    I specially like the ones called 'Teddy Bear''
    short plants, about 18-20" tall and very strong looking stems, self supporting too.
    I will most certainly be growing them again next year.
    Also have some tall ones - Russian Giant (I think)

    will post photos of someone will give me a bit of an explanation on how to do it.

    init sister..go to how to section its right at the bottom of the gardeners corner list and it tells you how to post a picture..if you still get stuck then ask and someone will help you..

    Have moved my sunflowers out of the greenhouse at work due to the heat and a white fly infection. Heres a pic of my Teddy Bears at home [​IMG]

    I don't know what the variety is but this is a dwarf one and only about 18" tall.

    frogsque...i think i have the same dwarf variety as yours ..i threw a packet of bird wildlife seeds on my patch and they must have been included in it..as they have appeared..
