To be fair I inherited the pokers from the previous owner but thanks for the encouragement!
Do you know when is the earliest I can use my scarifier on the lawn - we've had a pretty wet winter and the moss has invaded yet again.I promise to do the edges this year - do I need to use the edger to cut back again or just trim grass with a strimmer?

I personally wouldn't scarify just yet - it's a bit wet at the moment. As for edging - I like the effect you get when you use an edging iron / edger/ half-moon - whatever you want to call it! I generally do that early on (maybe even about now - depending on how wet the grass is) and then again at the end of the season - unless it's for a manicured lawn - then I trim the edges with the edging shears every time I cut the grass. Up to you really! I only use the strimmer for areas where the mower's too wide, or it's too rough - and that's not a problem for you - really nice photo!! :D

I use boards when edging. If you need a straight line use the board also stand on it to keep the grass from flattening and when you remove it the edge will look clean and well finished. Snowing here.
