My hanging basket vandalised but I got photo of culprit

    They made a real mess of it:

    Do not use hanging basket liner during Jackdaw nesting season!

      At my last house, the local birds didn't take too long to figure out that if we put pots of fresh compost outside on the patio, there was probably a sunflower seed in it. Poor wife lost loads that way.

      We have lots off Jackdaws around here . last year Mrs H said "aaaww look at these birds taking nesting material " . I said that's bloomin'coir bower liner at £9 a go ! Chase em off !

        They also steal whole fat balls unless you wire them down. The local blackbirds keep nicking all the berries off my home made holly wreaths every Xmas (it's really scary watching them through the door viewer in the middle of the wreath). Sometimes I wire Robin Xmas tree decorations to our railings and watch the local Robin population trash them.

        And when you put your reject apples on the lawn for the blackbirds, do they eat those or do they go for your boxes of best ones stacked up ready for pressing (+ poo and over them)?

          It's Blue Tits here that cause mayhem...my Old Dad was a ships rigger and he likes to keep his hand in so he every year he does my Sweet Pea and Bean frames....fabulous they are until the Blue Tits come and undo all the knots and fly off with the twine:doh:
