I seem to have a lot of bother at the checkout these days at B&Q, so I thought I'd write to them to let them know. I thought I'd put my note on here for your mild entertainment:

Good for you Clueless! I agree with everything you say, unfortunately B & Q is the only large DIY store we have on the island, so I haven't got a lot of choice but to shop there. My other half detests it and will only go in there under duress! :)

You might get some free shopping vouchers sent to you now.

I find that I still need a member of staff at the B&Q's self scan checkouts to deal with my trolley load of compost/sand/etc. covered with reduced stickers.

      Nice one Clueless.
I agree with all you have said ,and I always think twice before I shop there now ..My other issue with them is the lack of care for many plants left on trolleys unwatered for many days .Lovely plants arriving only to be neglected from day one ...

I saw the staff at B&Q moving potted shrubs around by grasping the growing point and dragging them across the paving - is that the proper way to do it?

It gets worse! Today I saw that B&Q are now selling Joseph Bentley garden tools by the kilogramme. Clueless1, could you add something to your letter about this ridiculous practice before it spreads:

Lol, this is obviously from their new 'Green Policies' - there number one concern is saving water apparently (see this article) - so the best way to do that is not watering plants!

Shame they don't consider buying illegal wood as an environmental issue too

        I
I note the price tags are coffin shaped.
Is that signifying the death knell for B&Q gardening?

I went to M&S did some food shopping (i was working on the M25 widening at J22 at the time) went in at 9am (that's when they open up) bought a load of food, went to the checkout with a hand full of boxed food, no one there, went up and down eventually found someone, "there's no one at the tills" said I, well there wouldn't be she said to me, we open at 9 am and open the tills at 9:30 ahh says I, cant you hold these boxes for me please, she now has a handful of boxes with my food in them, I say to her, I'm off to Sainsburys next door, they open there doors at 9, and there tills as well, bye!! the look on her face was priceless as I walk off, I then felt a warm smugness come over me!!

I've had a reply to my email to B&Q. As expected they've apologised and assured me that they take customer satisfaction very seriously, and despite the fact that I've already told them which branch of B&Q is my local one, could I please supply my full name (which I already gave) and my postal address so that they can properly investigate my complaint.

In other words, for the benefit of those that have never had anything to do with list brokering, or geodemographic profiling (very big business), can they please have my postcode as that is very relevant when determining if the complainant is in their top 2 deciles, is likely to be an active customer (ie the lucrative end of their customer base) or some pleb in their bottom decile who based on their postcode is likely to spend 50p every 6 months and therefore should be ignored.

Blimey Shiney! I can tell by the state of that lawn you've had no rain. I can see why you need a hosepipe too, it's a long way from the tap with buckets. :roflol:
