thanks to very kind family and friends clubbing together for xmas and my bday my little rose garden will be growing to 23 roses for 2013 season

 

My new gardening bag now i can keep an eye on everything and gatden at same time - lol

 

how d u clean secateurs in between tending to roses? do u just take a bowl of warm soapy water and a towel out with u? sorry i feel a bit embarrased having to ask

 

Thats good with my little girl i have loads of wipes just got.the rose expert by dr hessayon(sp)

ChimneyRoseGarden, your roses are lovely. I have a question though. I gather you have a young child, and roses can be very vicious. Have you overcome the problem of delicate young skin meeting ferocious hook like thorn?

I ask this because I'd like to grow more roses (I made a concession and allowed a few in out of the way parts of the garden), but most of what I do with the garden is geared towards kids having safe fun, and I'm not quite sure how to reconcile the two things.

 

She is fully supervised at all times and knows not to go on the borders unless she is having a sniff of the roses then i hold her hand and guide the bloom up to her. she has a nature area to hunt bugs where there are no roses and a grassed area with a playhouse and a sandpit, thomas ride on, ball and hoop (laundry basket), water table and digging tools with her own pots with nasturtiums and aqualligas etc in. to be honest the cat poo my cats generate seems to cause more of a problem to us
