I get an hour for lunch. Plenty of time to go for a good wander and get views like these:)

They're all on the old side of Whitby.

Lovely pictures Clueless! It all looks so calm and inviting now after the tempests we've had. :)

I walked along the harbour wall. I was going to lean on the railings to get a few more shots until I noticed the massive great crack in the stones that held the railings on.

It is, I'm impressed with it. That's why I haven't changed my phone in well over 2 years. The GPS resolution is pretty good too. Now the photos are on here, who knows, Google might even pinch them and put them on their map:)

The GPS co-ords are a tad out, they give:
            LAT: 54 29 23.4200
            LON: 0 36 49.2199
which puts you in the sea.

Nope, That's where I was stood:) I can walk on water.

Joking aside, there is a slight problem with GPS at that specific location, what with being surrounded on three sides by cliffs, so the phone tends to pick up reflected signals rather than the real thing, so it gets a bit confused at times. Especially considering only moments before I got to that point, I was coming down some steps surrounded by thick sandstone walls, so poor old GPS chip will have been working overtime trying to make sense of the spurious mixed signals.

Reflected signals, high cliffs, sandstone walls?
GPS don't lie, are you sure it's not more a case of this?

Busted indeed, it was sort of like that, except there were more ladies, and less fabric, and the boat was considerably bigger.

                  Sorry clueless1, but couldn't resist.
You are quite correct that obstructions such as hills, high walls and so on can affect GPS accuracy.
Below is a link to some good information on just this.
It's more for surveying but still applicable.

The end of the article sums it up nicely:
