I was growing some Maris pipers in a large container and Ive just pulled them up. It happened last year and its happened again, they have turned out really small and only about two are worthy of being roasted . Why are they turning out so small?

Hi Herb, if you want them to grow big enough to roast or bake then leave them for another month. If you want them as "new" potatoes then harvest them now, just wash off the soil and chuck them in the saucepan. David.

I always try and leave maincrop spuds in the ground as long as possible, as Dai says, leave them longer.

About 100 days minimum to grow in my book.

Thanks. Trouble was the plants themselves were beginning to wither and fall over.
