My local metal stockist had limited variety of hex rods, I preferred a 25mm hex but the best they had was a 30mm, they had larger sizes but 30mm was the closest to 25mm, so 30mm it was

At home I very soon got to cutting off two 75mm lengths and then took off the surface rust

Now came the time to drill a 16mm hole right through the hex, on my pile driver I started off with 5mm drill bit then a 10mm and finally the new 16mm drill bit

Once the hex was welded at the base to the trapezoid I set about drilling holes through the hex and the rod to fit 2x 4mm slot springs to each hex

    Ordered new 16 30 9 bearings

All that’s left now id for me to remove the surface rust on the scissor jacks and spray them with undercoat and a good 2x coat of mat black paint

I hope you found this enjoyable
